Songs for Susan

May 15, 2022 By Jamie Manser Leave a Comment

Susan Sykes was a dear friend, my older hermana. My party buddy and confidant; we were co-workers and housemates for a bit. By the time they diagnosed her breast cancer in April of 2005, it had already spread. The prognosis was grim, and they opted for aggressive treatment. It was really hard on her, and four months later she succumbed. Working with Maebelle Reed of Plush, Jill Ahearn of the Tucson Weekly, and seven local venues, we created the Songs for Susan benefit event. She didn’t live to see it. She passed on August 2, 2005. The event was August 24. Here are a few links about Susan, and her coolness. Photos are mostly of performers at Club Congress. Once I find the flier, I will scan and post it too.
