“Shared” Reality

November 25, 2020 By Jamie Manser 2 Comments

11/25/20: I was thinking of metaphors for miscommunication when I visualized wires getting crossed. And then I wondered: does that even make sense these days? Is the new metaphor – the bits must have flipped?

“Shared” reality (is/can be/may be) significantly flawed… ? !

12/01/20: I was scheduling a Zoom meeting with Millennials, and I wrote in the email: “I sent a mtg invite for tmw so we can get dialed in and iron out any wrinkles.”

What would be the appropriate metaphor in that scenario? I realize that “dialed in” (in my mind) refers to sound boards with dials (which are apparently no longer utilized), and “iron out any wrinkles” … ? Who still irons? Will this nomenclature make sense to the Millennials?

Am I overthinking this stuff?

Haha! Love it! I guess I’m thinking like a poet – and you would know it! xoxo
